Germany – Kiel to raise tax on gross stake to three per cent

By - 19 tháng 2018 năm XNUMX

The City of Kiel, a port city on Germany’s Baltic Sea coast and the capital of Schleswig-Holstein, is increasing its municipal tax on betting shops as of 1 January 2019.

The Finance Committee of the Council has accepted a request from Mayor Ulf fighters (SPD) to take the tax on the gross stake up to three per cent.

A similar betting tax is already charged in some cities in Schleswig-Holstein, including Elmshorn, Geesthacht and Rendsburg, where a tax of up to five per cent is added. Although the operators and betting operators are taxable, they can pass the costs on to the customers.

The Office of Financial Economics in Kiel believes the additional tax will generate extra revenues of around €50,000 in 2019. There are currently six betting shops in the city of Kiel.
