Hungary – Government nationalises online sports-betting

The Hungarian Parliament yesterday approved a bill under which online sports betting in Hungary can only be conducted through state-owned Szerencsejáték Zrt., while online horse betting can only be operated through state-owned Magyar Lóversenyfogadást Szervező Kft.
Online casino games can only be operated by firms that have casino concessions. Online casinos can generate extra income through online betting, but are not required to pay extra taxes on that income.
